The location is very convenient to Union Square and the Powell St cable car origination point. Staff was very helpful with questions. Great value for the money. The gym could use some investment. Just a few treadmills and hand weights. I think $65 a night is too much for parking, but maybe that is not bad for San Francisco. Overall my experience was positive. I would stay here again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Handlery Union Square Hotel in San Francisco, and I can confidently say it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. Joyce, in particular, stood out—she was incredibly kind, funny, and genuinely helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and her warm personality made a lasting impression. The rest of the staff were equally welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. The hotel itself was very comfortable. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and provided a relaxing space to unwind after a day of exploring the city. I also really enjoyed the pool area—it was a great spot to relax and recharge, adding an extra touch to the overall experience.

It was a great location (union square) and great price! I got it last minute and everything went so smoothly! I was greeted right when I arrived the front desk is professional and dressed professionally so it gives a luxury feeling, this hotel is historic and you can tell but well maintained. The room was smaller but nice had everything I needed the bathroom was also small but everything was clean. I enjoyed my short time there and it was great and good price!

5 star to this hotel and EJ. EJ and the front desk were extremely accommodating. We got a great room with amazing views and patio at a great price. 100% recommend this place and would come back to it.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times in the past 2 decades. The first time I didn’t want to come back (pre remodel), the second time I wanted to come again and the third time I still would come back again. I prefer the older side of the building even though the room was smaller. The newer side had large rooms with a small “balcony”, fridge, couch, chair, desk, as well as a laundry line, and a separate area to sit and do your makeup. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The location was near to cable cars, buses, bart, union square. I love this location!
