Yvette Espinoza 3 months agoI’ve had a really positive experience with the staff here. Over time, many of the workers have become friendly faces and genuinely good people to talk to. They actually listen and care about what you’re going through, which is rare these days. They’re very understanding and treat people with respect. There’s a young guy who works the night shift who especially stands out. He works long hours, and even when things get stressful for the staff, he still keeps a welcoming smile and stays professional. It doesn’t go unnoticed. The building itself is fairly quiet, and the elevator works, which is a big plus. Some rooms include showers and bathrooms, and they even offer pastries in the morning. Like anywhere in this part of the city, there are sometimes homeless people outside, especially at night. However, the staff and people who live nearby usually know how to talk with them and move them along if groups start forming. There are also police patrolling the blocks in the area regularly, so I personally feel okay about it. Overall, the staff is what really makes this place stand out.
Michael Pham 7 months agoDecent hotel for the price, super loud people outside so BRING ear plugs. Only one employee spoke English, but he was very helpful and nice. The room was adequate, again you get what you pay for. It's better or as good as the budget motels, but it's in the city 5 minute walk from all the slights. 20 minute walk from Chinatown and the waterfront.
Gerry Isaac Williams a month agoDO NOT BOOK. I am someone who is low maintenance. I can live in a hut in the wilderness with no electricity and be happy, but this place was honestly horrific. The staff were nice, but first red flag was the elevator broken with my room on 4th floor. Then red flags rushed in as soon as I walked in my room. Room was disgusting, with red/brown stains all over the sheets and bed. The room just didn't feel clean. There was a synthetic smell of some drug OTHER than weed/tobacco that would come in and out. That smell would fill the hotel hallways and my room at different times. Shower was luke warm. No shampoo, soap, conditioner, handsome. Even the towels seemed a little sus with spots on them. The area was not the best, with people doing drugs and shlumped over in front and all of the blocks surrounding. NOT SAFE FOR FAMILIES. And honestly not even a place for those solo/groups who just book places for the night. UNLESS you're okay with second hand mystery drug smoke filling your lungs as you sleep. I am happy I have friends out here, cuz I booker 2 nights, and 0/2 of those nights I stayed in this hotel. I didn't even want to bother for getting refund.
Rebecca Goldie 4 months agoNice large room, large bed. A little dated decor but friendly, helpful staff. The location is very convenient for shows at The Warfield. This is the Tenderloin, so even though there are many restaurants there are also a lot of homeless people as the night sets in. Hotel felt safe.
Juju 3 months agoI booked a room in the Warfield hotel back in February. The hotel is located in a very shady area of the Tenderloin. Drug use is prevalent in the proximity of the hotel. My room was very drab looking and looked like a prison cell with nothing but a bed, a television, and a sink. Bedsheets had stains on them and dead and alive roaches were found throughout the space. A putrid smell was also prevalent in the hotel floor. After requesting the front desk for a refund for my room, they first offered a change of room. I was tempted because I was exhausted from traveling and wanted to decompress, but I held my pride and told them I wanted to bail out of there. They told me in order to receive a refund possibly, to call the owner by phone to explain the situation, and hopefully I can get my money back. I figured that the owners of this hotel will do everything to avoid giving my money back, so I never bothered and decided to leave a negative review instead. I lost over $100 from that hotel, and I had to book last minute at the Hotel Fiona in SoMa, but the service at Fiona was leagues better than the Warfield Hotel. If you are looking for a budget hotel in the city, don't go for the cheapest option out there, the extra 10-20 bucks per night at a nicer place is worth it. Don't book at the Warfield Hotel ever.
