Great hotel for a single traveler or a really close couple. Definitely markets itself to a young hip Instagram travel crowd. Hotel lobby is like a cafe with lots of funky art and lots of seating options for socializing, remote work, content creation, hipster blogging, whatever. That's not a slam though. This place was cool and had a very vibrant feel. Location is great for Boston. Near Fenway, right by Boylston and Newbury St shopping and restaurants, and right on top of a green line T Stop. Rooms are small. Cruise ship small. However, very functional. All the room is run off an iPad, which has a bit of a learning curve. Yet you can do mood lighting, ambient relaxation music, total black the room out, stream video, order room service, with out having to climb out of bed. Storage is a coat rack and a under bed drawer and safe. Sink and mirror is in the main space and the toilet and shower are in a glassed in hygiene pod. I personally love this setup, especially when traveling solo. If you have someone else in the room with you, be comfortable with knowing EVERYTHING about them because there is no place to hide. Bed is comfortable and on the firm side and on an elevated platform. Room.was immaculately clean and overall oddly comfy for how small it is.

Other reviews aren't wrong when it says the rooms are small but if you are just sleeping there you won't mind. Get a high floor if you can and you won't regret it. We loved falling asleep looking at the city from the giant window. Location is fantastic. Right at the Hynes T stop. So many restaurants within walking distance. Check in and check out are on tablets which made it easy. Would definitely stay again!

This room was such a shock when we first arrived. So small. But the reality is that we needed no more ! This hotel is so modern and offered the most impressive staff! We wanted and needed nothing more. The first employee we met was Jay and she was a plethora of knowledge about the hotel and the city. She has a great smile and offered us amazing customer service during our entire stay~ actually made us feel we were staying w friends and not a hotel.

Rooms were very nice and clean. All staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel experience was unique because it was all done through iPad. Check in was on ipad and lights/blinds/TV in room was done on iPad. It was a unique and different experience and nice to have everything on one device. The rooms were a bit cramped for 2 full suitcases, but the views we had of the Charles was worth it! We weren't here for work, but both noted that it seems like an amazing hotel to stay at if you are in town for work.

Mixed stay at citizenM Back Bay. Giving it a 3.5-star experience overall. • The Staff: 5/5. Riley at the front desk was excellent and Jenn at the bar was super attentive. They make the place feel very welcoming. • The View: Incredible views of the river and city from my room. • Housekeeping: 1/5. No housekeeping for a 3-day weekend. I tried the iPad and talking to staff, but the room was never cleaned. • The Room: Tiny. It’s cozy but could be claustrophobic for some. I almost switched hotels because of the size, but I was too tired from my flight to pack up again. Summary: Great for millennials and a younger crowd, but the price/quality balance feels off when basic services like housekeeping aren't met.
