Richard Hirsch 2 weeks agoSubject: Reconsideration of Shuttle Service Elimination As of July 1, 2026, the shuttle service at the hotel will be discontinued. As a corporate guest who stays at the property an average of 3 to 8 nights per month, and as someone who has directed countless company visitors and business associates to this hotel over the past three years, I wanted to share my perspective on this decision. The recent renovations and upgrades have certainly improved the property. However, the shuttle service has always been the primary differentiator that separated this hotel from similarly priced competitors in the market. The value of the shuttle extends far beyond a convenience amenity. For business travelers like myself, it eliminates the need to rent a vehicle in an unfamiliar city, reduces travel expenses, and allows valuable work time to continue while someone else handles transportation. For our company alone, that benefit has directly influenced our lodging decisions for years. More importantly, the service provides a critical resource for the surrounding medical community. The proximity to The Ohio State University, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and Riverside Methodist Hospital makes this hotel a temporary home for patients, families, physicians, nurses, and support staff. Over the years, I have met many of these guests while staying here. Their stories are unforgettable. Many are undergoing cancer treatments, recovering from heart procedures, or caring for loved ones facing significant medical challenges. For these individuals, transportation is not simply a convenience. It is an essential service. The alternative is often an Uber costing $18 to $40 round trip, multiple times per week, or a rental car that can easily exceed $70 per day before fuel and parking. Those costs add up quickly for families already carrying substantial medical and financial burdens. My concern is not that ownership lacks the right to make this decision. Every business must evaluate costs and profitability. My concern is that the analysis may not fully capture the revenue generated because of the shuttle service. The guests who choose this hotel specifically because transportation is available are likely invisible in a traditional expense review. Corporate travelers, hospital patients, family members, medical professionals, and visiting staff often select this property precisely because the shuttle eliminates transportation challenges. The question is not simply what the shuttle costs. The question is how much business the shuttle attracts, retains, and protects. I respectfully encourage ownership to revisit this decision and conduct a deeper analysis of the occupancy and loyalty generated by this service. If the shuttle is removed, this property becomes one of many hotel options in the area. With the shuttle, it remains uniquely positioned to serve both the business and medical communities surrounding Ohio State. I hope ownership will reconsider. Respectfully, Richard Hirsch Corporate Guest and Frequent Customer
Courtney Duskin 2 weeks agoI travel a lot for work and rarely leave negative reviews, but this place earned one. The hotel was completely overrun with a teenage baseball tournament while I was there. Kids were running up and down the hallways, yelling outside rooms, and taking over the pool area. The problem wasn’t that they were staying here. The problem was that the staff did absolutely nothing to manage it. It felt like the baseball tournament was the only group that mattered and every other guest was an afterthought. Unfortunately, that attitude seemed to carry through the entire property. The refrigerator in my room didn’t work for my entire stay. I reported it three separate times to three different employees. Nobody ever came to look at it. Nobody followed up. Nobody even acknowledged the issue. By the third report, it was obvious they had no intention of doing anything about it. On top of that, there isn’t even a microwave in the room. The breakfast is advertised as fresh, which is laughable. The first morning there was barely anything left by 8:00 AM even though breakfast runs until 9:00 AM. The days they did have food available, the “fresh” breakfast consisted of premade frozen items sealed in plastic bags a lady from the back brought out in a huge bowl and dumped into a warmer. That’s not fresh breakfast. It’s false advertising. Even the coffee was terrible. Lastly, a large portion of the parking lot is torn up for construction, except there doesn’t appear to be any construction actually happening. If I had the time to switch hotels during this business trip, I would have. Things break. Hotels get busy. What made this stay so frustrating was the complete lack of concern for anyone who wasn’t there for the baseball tournament.
Amber Heyman 7 months agoThe young man at check in was probably the fastest I have ever dealt with. He was very friendly and super efficient! Our room was clean and decent in size. The mattress was very firm (too firm for me, but that's a personal issue). Pillows are the typical down Pillows. Shower got hot quickly, pressure was pretty good, but the most notable thing about the shower is the shower head is quite high. I'm just a little over 5' and couldn't touch the shower head. No constant fan on the wall unit. Breakfast was better than most hotel breakfasts I have had. Close proximity to food and shopping. Fridge in every room. Microwave in suites, but not regular rooms. There are 2 Microwaves by the lobby available for guests 24 hours
Megan Mahaffey 7 months agoAbsolutely a 5 star experience. Great proximity to the stadium, bars, etc. The staff was wonderful, breakfast was delicious, the shuttle was perfection. The shuttle driver was friendly, and we waited for not even 5 minutes! The room was also clean, cozy, and quiet! Checkout time being 12pm is also quite convenient. I highly recommended this hotel!
Claire 2 months agoI rarely write reviews, but our experience at this Fairfield Marriott was so frustrating that I feel I have to warn others. We stayed here recently and were met with one issue after another, starting with management. Management & Service The manager, Beth, was incredibly unprofessional and lacked basic customer service etiquette. We were promised conjoining rooms by higher-level management before we arrived, but upon check-in, we were told they are "promised but not always guaranteed." Even after a family member who knows Marriott corporate leadership reached out to ensure this was handled, Beth and her team failed to follow through. To make matters worse, we were forced to move rooms from the third floor out of nowhere with no clear explanation. Despite the constant stress and the broken promises, Beth refused to offer any sort of compensation or gesture of goodwill for the terrible service. Room Quality & Amenities The rooms themselves were nasty and clearly haven't been cleaned or maintained properly. The rest of the facilities weren't much better: • The Gym: It is tiny. Only about three people can fit in there at once before it feels completely overcrowded. • The Pool: The chlorine smell was so overpowering it was hard to even breathe in the pool area, let alone enjoy it. • Breakfast: The selection was very poor and definitely not up to the standard you expect from this hotel chain. Overall, this was a miserable experience. Between the management's attitude and the state of the hotel, I would highly recommend staying somewhere else in Columbus. We won't be returning.
