Erika C 3 weeks agoOur stay at this property was disappointing in several key areas. The room cleanliness was far below an acceptable standard. The floors were so dirty that our children’s feet turned black shortly after walking inside. Although staff assured us the room had been cleaned, the bathroom floor remained visibly unclean when we returned. The pool also did not meet expectations. While the water itself wasn’t cloudy, it contained leaves and dirt, and it was uncomfortably cold despite being advertised as warm. It did not appear to be maintained with the level of care guests should reasonably expect. The overall atmosphere of the property was also concerning. We observed behavior in shared areas that was not appropriate for a family setting, and it created an environment that did not feel comfortable or suitable for children. It was disappointing that management did not intervene or maintain better oversight. While the staff was polite, the property requires significant improvements in cleanliness, supervision, and overall standards. I would encourage families to consider other accommodations until these issues are resolved
Meagan McCall a month agoIf you’re looking for a wedding venue in Long Beach, all of their pricing was very straightforward, and the reception package included a day-of coordinator, wedding cake, room for the night of, tables, linens, chairs, and the dance floor. They’re going through a rebrand, and sometimes you’ll see it called Hotel Maya and other-times it’s The Maya. For an outdoor ceremony, the Jardin de Palmeras was extremely romantic, and we loved the chandelier and waterfall-esque fountain at the altar. In winter months, they have a tent to help with potential rain and heat containment, as you are right on the water. They have three different outdoor ceremony spaces, and this was our personal favorite. For an indoor-outdoor reception with beautiful views of the water, we loved the Miramar Ballroom and connected Veranda. The views from the large floor-to-ceiling windows and connected balcony with sails were spectacular. I liked the carpet and the overall vibe. Cindy went above and beyond for us, from scheduling the tasting with the Chef around the opening of their new restaurant to sending us multiple proposals to helping us get the price point to our budget to checking with her culinary team to see which items were gluten-free to many emails back and forth. Choosing a wedding venue is such a difficult decision, and Cindy was a pleasure to work with every step of the way, and I am bummed that we won’t be working with her for our wedding. Although we ended up booking a venue closer to where we live in LA, of the eight wedding venues we toured, The Maya was tied for our top shared favorite spot during our venue search. We especially love that you can jet ski from the jet ski rental right by the pool of the Maya Hotel, which would be a fun Just Married activity for the next morning.
Johnny 4 months agoReally convenient for the cruise port. Room was clean and the outside amenities were nice. Fire pits, chairs and pool right on the water. Had breakfast delivered to our room. The man who answered the phone was super friendly. He actually delivered it to our room as well. Within 5mins we had everything. He was great
Stacy Leonard a month agoWe stayed 4 nights. The hotel, itself, is very nice. The property is well maintained and there are several nice amenities including pool, jacuzzi, gym, fire pits, lounge chairs in the little “beach” area and even a roaming coati. for an authentic Mayan feel. . Walking around the property providesd gorgeous views of the Harbor. The rooms were clean and bed comfortable. However, our room, which had a cute balcony, directly faced the freeway, It was extremely loud. Sitting outside wasn’t enjoyable, and the sound of trucks barreling down could be heard at all hours of the night. I asked on several occasions to switch rooms but was told there were no other rooms available and switching was not possible. They are also doing construction, and because this room was also closest to the parking lot, you could hear the workers pretty early in the morning. I think it would have been a wonderful stay in a different room on the property.
taran singh 4 months agoI’m really disappointed with my experience during this stay. Just over a month ago, I had an amazing visit, which is why I chose to return. Unfortunately, this time was completely different. From check-in, the service felt unwelcoming and dismissive. I had called ahead to request the same room I previously enjoyed, but despite being charged the same rate, I was given a room facing an area with large raccoons rather than the “waterfront deluxe” room I was expecting. I continue to choose this hotel because of its great location and convenience, but based on this visit, it’s certainly not for the service. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the guest experience.
