Nice and quiet space just 8 minutes from SDCC. No frills hotel but chic, quaint and clean. My unit had 2 flat screens with Roku, a small desk to do some work, and a small kitchen, which is what I look for. The bathroom was fine, save for the shower taking a couple minutes to serve up hot water. I don't think there's a gym, I might be wrong, but the hills around the neighborhood offers plenty of sweat time. There's a liquor store a block and a half away that I took advantage of for some fruit, baked goods and water. If you want CVS, Home Goods or a couple of good places to eat, it's only 8-10 minutes away.

Pros: Great location, rates. Oks: clean ish rooms.... someone left V05 in the shower, questioned everything else. Small showers. Good for cozy couples that don't mind hearing EVERYTHING in the bathroom, and rooms around you. Cons: parking on street only. This is more of a hostel, several rooms in one old converted house/ apartment building, furniture left a lot to be desired.

My partner and I had a very smooth stay. Our goal was the San Diego Zoo and of course comfort. The Somerset (staff or owners) were very responsive. Our check in was at 4pm, I asked if we could check in a bit earlier because we were tired. They allowed it as soon as the cleaning crew confirmed the room was good to go. There was no contact with rude lobby people (most hotels) or having to worry about losing the cards to get into the room. All the codes to the doors were sent to my phone. Parking is not an issue, street is available. Feels safe. It’s quiet! The room we stayed in had a fridge, microwave, tv, dinning table, etc. Was room #7, (remember all the rooms are different but they have most of the same amenities) ours had a heater and AC. WiFi was also available. We loved the fact that it’s close to downtown, and everything else. It’s a must. We will stay here again. We are both very pleased with this home. No, the rooms don’t share restrooms, each room feels like a suite. It’s all individual. 😋👍

I stayed here for one night - the room was very clean and comfortable. The check-in and check-out was straightforward, and the doors had keycode locks. The shower space was small as some reviews stated but completely manageable. The water pressure was good and the temperature was nice and warm. I appreciate the portable air conditioner that was present in my room so that I could regulate the temperature. The room decor was also calming and the bed was cosy. I liked the outdoor patio area which was beautiful. Limitations: I highly recommend that wall cubby storage or one shelf is incorporated in the bathrooms to keep the toiletries because mine were just on the floor and I had to bend down every time to use body wash or shampoo. One big aspect that was missing is access to good drinking water (either through a shared water dispenser in the hallway, or water fountain). If you are coming straight from the airport, be sure to fill up your bottle or be prepared to drink out of the bathroom tap. Overall, I had a good stay and would return.

Check in was very easy. They give you a code to enter the building and a different code for your specific room. The room itself was a bit small but was clean and had everything you would need (a fridge and microwave, sink/shower/toilet, small TV, AC and heating units). There are a couple things to note. The main entrance has two very steep sets of stairs and would be impossible for someone with a wheelchair to access. I don't know if there's another entrance. Being in downtown, parking is atrocious and there is no dedicated parking lot/area for this hotel. We had to walk three blocks from where I found parking. Overall it was a good stay and a bit cheaper than other options in the area. The staff was friendly. :)
