I would give this hotel a 3.5 star. We were in room 3009, on the 30th floor, and when you first get off the elevator you get a strong smell of old McDonalds. Not sure if someone in their room was cooking something? But it was a rough smell and sorta set the undertone that the place is not clean. I worked at a high-end hotel in college and each floor of this hotel had misters that we changed frequently. I would suggest management invest a couple thousand dollars on something like this for each floor. Don’t get a cheap smell because it could just make the situation worse…but something does need to be done because this really just made us think things weren’t clean. Next when we open the door we are met with an early 2000s brown kitchen/living room. There is beige carpet throughout, except the kitchen area and bathroom have cream tiles on the floor. There is a yellow, brown and tan couch that is made of fiber. The ceilings are popcorn. So you get the idea, it’s a bit outdated. Since the couch is made of fiber and yellow/brown…all I could think of is infested with germs. Even though it might not have been, it’s just the vibe I got from it. I feel like leather would be much cleaner, at least with leather I could have wiped it down before sitting on it. Instead my wife and I threw down towels just to sit on it. Past the living room we got into the bedroom which felt much more clean and comfortable…but the stench from the hallway filled our entire room. No matter where you went you could not get away from the old McDonalds smell. I think a few things management needs to look into is possibly something to neutralize smells. Place them in the hallways and possibly in the rooms, look into what highend hotels use so that it doesn’t just smell like you’re trying to mask it bc then it makes the situation feel worse. Next I would immediately remove al fiber couches. Other things I would do is remove the cable and upgrade the tvs to smart tvs that allow guests to connect their phones or watch Netflix/peacock. If you can’t do the smart tvs, then at least anchor the tv boxes to the walls behind the tvs and wrap the cords so that the box and cords just aren’t all over the wall which looks tacky.

This older hotel in downtown Honolulu is very comfortable, clean and with friendly local staff. I recommend it. My room was dated but spacious, quiet and clean with comfortable beds. The views of the mountains & city are lovely and the location provides lots of opportunities for local dining and downtown activities. Not a touristy area and very pleasant to stay there. Night time's a little sketchy in that area with a lot of homeless but the security at the hotel is great & I felt very safe. Daytime walkability in that area is great.

It’s a decent place to stay, but beware of hidden resort fees if you’re planning on booking through an airline. Expensive parking, but so is everywhere else. Rooms were very clean, washer and dryer in the room was a great amenity. Make sure you check out on time, or you’ll get charged $119. (whoops)

Great price, spacious rooms, we stayed here on our way home it gets you a little closer to the airport, the surrounding area is a little sketchy, but you don’t have to deal with it due to the private parking they have
