We chose the Marriott Waikiki for what we hoped would be a relaxing vacation and paid a premium rate for our stay, including daily resort fees. Unfortunately, our experience has fallen well below expectations. Construction is currently underway at the property, and we were moved to a different room because of the impact it was having on guests in the original tower. While we understand that renovations are sometimes necessary, the disruption has been significant. In addition to the construction noise, the Luau rehearsals and evening performances create substantial noise beginning in the late afternoon and continuing into the evening, making it difficult to relax in our room. As paying guests, we expected a resort experience that would provide comfort and relaxation. Instead, much of our stay has been affected by noise and disruptions that were not fully disclosed when we booked. Given these circumstances, we respectfully request that the resort fees be waived or refunded for our stay. We do not feel that we received the level of amenities, comfort, and enjoyment that those fees are intended to cover. We appreciate the staff's efforts and understand that some factors may be beyond their control. However, we believe compensation is warranted due to the ongoing construction, room relocation, and excessive noise that have negatively impacted our vacation. Thank you for your consideration. I would also recommend speaking with the front desk before checkout and asking to speak with the manager on duty. Mention the room move, construction, Luau noise, and resort fees specifically. Hotels will often offer a resort fee refund, room credit, Marriott Bonvoy points, or a partial refund should be offered.

We recently stayed at the Waikiki Marriott to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and a birthday, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations. The biggest issue was the overall atmosphere. It’s hard to describe, but the hotel lacked the warm, welcoming hospitality and “vacation sparkle” you hope to feel when arriving in Hawaii. Check-in felt impersonal, and no one mentioned that multiple construction projects were underway throughout the property. The positives were that our room was clean, comfortable, and the location near the beach was excellent. However, the negatives outweighed the positives for us. The hotel is currently undergoing construction in several areas. Balcony repairs made our balcony unusable, which was especially disappointing since we paid extra for an ocean-view room and couldn’t fully enjoy it. There was also construction taking place near the pool area, so instead of relaxing, we were listening to drilling and other construction noise. The lobby was partially closed off due to ongoing work, and the hotel is adding an arcade and bowling alley. I’m not sure why such extensive renovations would be scheduled during peak vacation season, but it definitely impacted the guest experience. A few hours after check-in, we received a call to pick up our “welcome gift.” Since we were celebrating our anniversary, I assumed it might be something special. Instead, it was a map of Waikiki and a booklet of local activities, which honestly gave us a laugh. Another downside was our room’s location right next to the elevators. Elevator noise could be heard throughout the day and night, making it difficult to fully relax. While the room itself was decent and the location is great, I would not recommend staying here while construction is ongoing. If we return to Waikiki, we will choose a different hotel.

We got to Oahu right after the first Kona Low hit, and most of the North Shore where we were headed had no power. We were able to book a nice room here the same day last minute with the help of the very kind staff. The room was nice, interesting bathroom with glass and blinds looking into the room, but the shower was great. Awesome view from one of the top floors. Unfortunately all but one of the restaurants and pool were closed due to the storm, but the downstairs bar/restaurant was open, and we had the best server there. 5 star service from her, and she was taking care of a full house. Valet parking was a bit steep, but everything downtown is I'd guess. In a pinch it was great, Mahalo to the staff.

We stayed ar rhis resort for our anniversary. The location was great, and our room was clean. We were greeted by Kainoa at the front desk. She was so nice. She had a letter and chocolates sent to our room to celebrate our special occasion. She also gave us recommendations on things to do and places to go. The staff members were friendly throughout the resort.

Perfect location! Great customer service! Everyone that worked there was so friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and updated. They offer beach chairs and boogie boards and towels to take to the beach. Lots of cute little shops downstairs. My room had an amazing view of Diamond Head and the beach.
