Clifford Barsabal 4 months agoIf you’re looking for an unexpected adventure in Waikiki, Ohia Waikiki Studio Suites delivers. We booked a specific room for eight nights. What we got was not the room we reserved. No notice. No explanation at check-in. We only discovered the switch after walking in and realizing this was definitely not what we paid for. Surprise. The room also came with permanent residents. Roaches everywhere. While we were eating, they swarmed my daughter’s plate like we had invited them to dinner. That was the moment we knew this stay wasn’t going to last. The shower featured visible mold and water that never made it past lukewarm. The furniture was stained and dirty. Temperature control in the room was basically nonexistent. Need extra pillows or a blanket? Not after hours. We were told it was past their working time and that we could come down and grab bedsheets ourselves. Hospitality, but make it DIY. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything inside the hotel and every sound from the street below until about 3 a.m. Sleep is optional. We booked eight nights. We lasted about eight hours. If you expect basic cleanliness, the room you actually reserved, hot water, or reasonable service, this probably ISN'T the place for you. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!
kiana rivera 2 months agoI’ll start with the good. The staff is very friendly and the location is amazing! It has wifi but dropped several times so couldn’t watch streaming on tv. It provides the bare minimum in terms of amenities you need. You cannot go wrong with this location either. It’s in the center of Waikiki. Now the quality of the lodging itself was the worst I ever been to. Thank god the bedding was clean, but I spotted trash from previous visitors behind the tv and shelves. The pillows were pancake flat and uncomfortable. I was greeted with a lipstick stain on the lamp! Lips! On the lampshade! That got me. They couldn’t replace that or try to clean it off?! The curtains had holes and stain and were held together by tape. Tape! Lmao! Some things don’t cost that much to replace. I would not spend $100/night here. I got a discount on Priceline for under that, so good thing. Only 1 elevator worked. Thank goodness the staff allowed guests access to the service elevator. On top of all that Board of Water Supply had a scheduled maintenance so the whole building is without water today from 8-5. It really made me wonder if the workers were being taken advantage of because this place is in the heart of Waikiki. It should not look the way it does.
Shwanna Burks 5 months agoI was nervous about staying here based on the reviews, however the price in this area was very affordable. As this area is considered the best in Honolulu as it is walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shopping areas. I stayed here at this hotel for 10 days and everything went well. The room was well put together, beds were comfortable, AC worked, water pressure in the shower was wonderful and the view from my balcony on the 15th floor was amazing. WiFi worked well and it was a plus having the stove, refrigerator and coffee maker. Because of the reviews that I had previously read about this hotel having bugs, I brought my own spray and sprayed the room before unpacking and I had no issues with bugs. I also wiped and sanitized everything in the room, it was a little dusty but for the most part it was cleaned well. We also didn’t leave wet clothes or food lying around and we set trash out every night, so doing all of these things helped. The hotel gives you a goodie bag each morning and there is coffee and ice tea in the lobby every day. Staff was very helpful, however there was one female receptionist who never smiled and always appeared to be angry and somewhat rude. However, I would definitely stay here again. Please be aware of the extra fees: Parking $50 per night Resort fee $36 per night
Ryen Horton 3 months agoWe booked on Priceline thinking we got a great deal. The front desk staff was extremely kind and transparent about the charges, even though they weren’t mentioned up front. I used to work at a hotel, so I understand the extra “resort fee”. It’s a way to get more money and it seems disingenuous, but everyone does it these days. The lobby was rundown, as were the elevators. We walked in to the TINY room and were immediately hit with the overpowering smell of bleach. A quick glance around showed dirty mattresses and headboards, hair from previous guests in the shower, chipped paint, mold, a kitchenette so beat down you’d need a tetanus shot if you used it, and no toilet paper. We went for a walk, my kids explored while I read reviews. They only confirmed my initial impression. I immediately looked for a different place and booked it. Two blocks away, reasonably priced rooms, and CLEAN. We went back to get our things, that we would not even set on the beds. When we checked out the front desk staff didn’t seem surprised that we were choosing not to stay there. This place is in desperate need of an overhaul.
Hokulea Nakaahiki a month agoAbsolute false advertising. The photos are extremely enhanced and do not reflect the actual condition of the property. First issue — there is no self parking, only valet at $65 per night. The young men working valet were honestly the ONLY good part of the entire experience. They were kind, positive, and professional. We booked two rooms with 4 guests in each room, yet only 2 towels were provided per room, and we were told no additional towels were available. They also did not have blankets available — only sheets. One room had bugs in the shower, while the other had a bathroom light that did not work. Mind you, we paid over $200 per room. One room’s air conditioning barely worked, several outlets did not work, and we were still charged a $17.50 amenities fee for basic snacks like chips and soda. Overall, the property was poorly maintained and nothing like what was advertised online.
