The only thing that sort of gives this place any grace is the location somewhat close to the brown line. This hotel was immensely disappointing for the price paid, which was extra charges on top of said price. There was no 2nd padlock on my door to lock from the inside other than the electric lock, which I did not like, anyone with a fob key could come in at night. Booked through 3rd party hotels dot com, save your money and go elsewhere. They didn’t even change our bedding but gave us “clean” towels. woke up with itchy legs from what I can only assume were bed bugs. There were housekeeping supplies in the hallways at all hours of the day yet didn’t finish servicing my room. Bathroom door didn’t have a lock on it. Rooms were very dark and poor lighting so good luck if you want to get work done. Booked it back in January and still paid $430 for two nights. $150 deposit upon arrival as well. Don’t stay here honestly.

If I could give a zero. I would. This felt like a bait-and-switch scam. We prepaid about $550 through Priceline, then were told at check-in that we had to pay an additional $350 to get the room. When we tried to resolve the issue with Priceline, the hotel refused to cooperate, canceled our reservation, and denied us the room we had already paid for. We left with no room and no refund. Be very careful booking here, and get every fee in writing before you arrive.

The hotel I booked, THE CHICAGO COLLECTION RIVER NORTH, two rooms because I needed one with me and three teenagers, a room with two double bunks (a quad) and my boyfriend in a second room (one bed) but we are one group, with you for a specific price, listed as “all fees included” —BUT: They (front desk of hotel) refused us our rooms, they would not give us our rooms for that price. They said we had to give them an additional $400, for unspecified services and/or benefits that I did not know about and had not agreed to, nothing in writing, no details given, or we could not get keys. This is a bait and switch scam. I gave my booking app (hopper) $175.00 for two rooms. For two nights. Which we could not check into because we simply did not have $400 extra on our credit cards to even check into. You/Hopper sold me two rooms for $175. They would not honor that unless we paid another $400. So in order to check in the actual price was $575. Not $175.00. I had three kids, five of us, in the lobby, trying to check in, but we were denied access unless we paid this exorbitant extra $400. It’s not just bait and switch this is a scam, a fraudulent practice of advertising a too-low price then adding on extreme hidden fees. At no point was any itemization or list of services given or approved by me. I did not see any mention of the cost of additional fees prior to clicking “book now.” The hotel would not let us check into our rooms, at all, without this extortion. I’ve reported you to my payment method (PayPal) and my boyfriend has reported this to his credit card company for the other $75. No one helped us. Hopper customer service refused even a credit for another hotel. We had nowhere to stay and I lost nearly $300 in other tickets, parking, and fees because we literally had to drive home 3 hours because we had nowhere to stay. I’ve lost all of that, in addition to the $175 cost of accommodations that were refused. Your fault. You sold us beds that were not provided. Period. That is fraud.

I pretty much never leave reviews, but I really want to look out for others that may find themselves in the same situation! Watch out for room 209 - the AC was broken and they only offered box fans to help us out. Sadly the hotel was booked out for us, but make sure you ask for a room change or you might be enjoying a free sauna every night. Management generally seems apathetic to most concerns and you’ll know where you stand with the staff pretty quickly if you have any complaints… this hotel will do a lot to shift blame or completely ignore you if there is any fear of them potentially having to take any accountability.

I waited for a very long time at the cheakin counter while the receptionist was on a phone call. When she gets off the phone she talks to someone who had come after me for the desk. It's a roof over your head. My door was so hard to push I thought my key was broken at first. There is no microwave or even fridge in my room, have to go to the communal kitchen down stairs. There is no breakfast served. I can hear my neighbors showering, I cannot figure out how to control the temperature on mine. My desk lamp is dirty. Earns 2 star instead of 1 because of the amazing Keurig pod variety in the kitchen.
