klashelle 2 weeks agoDisappointing experience for a self-proclaimed "luxury boutique" hotel, We stayed in Room 603 and unfortunately left highly disappointed. For a hotel that markets itself as a luxury boutique property and charges a premium, the service and room comfort fell incredibly short. The negative experience started at check-in with Carlo (I believe this was his name, dark-haired gentleman who smoked outside all the time). He was entirely uncommunicative—simply demanding a credit card, telling us to sign, and handing over the keys. There was zero welcome, no mention of the amenities, internet, or dining, and he didn't even point us toward the elevators. To make matters worse, throughout our stay, we saw him sitting at the bar area by the front desk completely ignoring guests while staring at his cell phone. The room itself was very dark and gloomy, featuring one tiny corner window that looked directly down into an ugly alley filled with dumpsters and garbage. After checking in and seeing the room, I asked if another room was available, but Carlo claimed they were completely sold out. We highly doubt this, as we barely saw another soul in the lobby or elevators the entire time. Furthermore, the bed frame in 603 is legitimately dangerous; it sits very low to the ground and the sharp edges jut out so far at the end that it is an absolute shin-hazard. We put the two small garbage cans near the bed frame to help protect us. The only saving grace was the housekeeping team. The room was perfectly clean, and the housekeeping staff we encountered were incredibly friendly, polite, and accommodating. They clearly understand hospitality, but management and the front desk staff have a long way to go to justify their "luxury" label. Take my advice and don’t stay here, you will regret it and get hurt like my wife and I did with the dangerous bed frame
Jennifer H 3 weeks agoI recently stayed here for work and overall really enjoyed my stay. Carlos and Ty at the front desk were both absolutely wonderful. Every interaction was welcoming, professional, and genuine. Front desk staff can truly shape a guest experience, and these two are exceptional! Carlos has such good energy. He is kind, attentive, and really cares. At check-in he was very informative, had me laughing right away. Every time I came downstairs he always made sure that I had everything I needed. He even helped my coworkers find a restaurant that was open late for their strict dietary restrictions. Ty also has great positive energy, and professionalism. I shared with him my housekeeping complaints and he took them seriously, acknowledge and apologized. I even chatted with him for a while at the end of the difficult evening. He even let me entertain him with my astrology woo woo talk! I have formerly worked in hospitality myself, and he truly has the gift for it. That level of care, attentiveness, and emotional intelligence is rare and deserves to be recognized as well. Together, Carlos and Ty create the type of atmosphere that makes people want to come back to the Ivy. They truly make you feel like you're their family! I would highly recommend staying at the Ivy. I would recommend it for business or pleasure and adding it my list of favorites!
Priscilla Dumbleton Bolitho a month agoWe recently stayed at a hotel in Chicago, and it largely met our expectations based on the website description. The location was excellent—close to wonderful restaurants, the pier, and Miracle Mile, all within walking distance, which made our visit very convenient. The room was comfortable, although the bed was quite soft and lower to the ground. Overall, it was satisfactory. The bathroom, however, was fantastic! The shower had impressive water pressure, and the tub and counter space were excellent features that added to our experience. The hotel maintained a peaceful atmosphere, and we appreciated not hearing noise from neighboring rooms. One downside was our interaction with the front desk staff in the afternoons and evenings; unfortunately, the gentleman we encountered was quite rude. However, the morning staff member was exceptionally friendly and provided outstanding customer service, which helped balance our experience. Her professionalism and kindness were a key reason for our choice to book this hotel. In summary, if you’re looking for a clean, peaceful hotel situated in a prime location, this place is definitely worth considering!
Ronni Daley 5 months agoFantastic stay in an Ontario Suite that was gorgeous, luxurious, versatile and there was plenty of space. There is no pool or hot tub but there's a divine soaking tub in the room that is really nice, joined by a beautiful rainfall shower. No microwave nor fridge neither but there's a minibar and cabinets to hold food. There's also a cute Keurig to use, sweet blackout curtains, great housekeeping, and lots of places to dine, shop and sight-see within decent walking distance. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get and it was marvelous.
Rebecca Vidito a month agoWe recently hosted our company retreat at Ivy Hotel Chicago and had an amazing experience. Allison Daugherty was incredible to work with throughout the entire planning process and made coordinating a multi-day retreat with lots of moving pieces feel easy. She was always kind, responsive, accommodating, and genuinely helpful. The hotel itself was fantastic, and the rooms were HUGE. Our team was honestly in awe of how nice and spacious they were — it almost felt like we had somehow been given the wrong rooms because they were so much better than expected. Allison and the entire Ivy team made the experience seamless from start to finish, and we would absolutely stay here again.
