Blackswan Loyalty 2 weeks agoFirst off, the staff here are deceptive and disgraceful. Especially penny and the other white or Hispanic lady at the front desk with her. I drove 9 hours to New Orleans, after booking with booking.com. The website failed to list that there was an extra $45 parking fee, as well as penny. She saw me pull in in front of the hotel, and she processed the payment for the hotel when she swiped my card. AFTER she swiped my card, penny decided to then bring up an additional $45 parking fee, knowing what she was doing. She also added that she doesn’t do refunds, but thought it was a bright idea to trap me into spending more money, which is disgusting behavior coming from an adult. Even after she saw me coming out of my PERSONAL VEHICLE. I then contacted booking.com to resolve the issue which they failed to do after calling penny, because she was set on “no refunds” knowing the stunt she just pulled. I went to my car and she was in there laughing and talking about it to the other staff member at the front desk. A part of delivering good service to any customer is having good communication skills which Penny clearly does not have, so she shouldn’t be able to work in a job requiring handling payments, and clearly communicating fees to customers especially if she’s striving to scheme and be deceptive to the people that pay HER salary. I did not stay there, but it’s alright since all the reviews are stating how they’ve been getting bitten up by bedbugs in all the rooms, with zero compensation, even after being scammed by the same front desk staff members. The staff members here are deceptive pretending to be innocent, and WILL be reported to the better business bureau.
MsMoody713 3 weeks agoI stayed here for three nights with friends and family. Everything was perfect from the time I walked in and was greeted by Ms. Velma. Customer service from every staff member I came across was pleasant. I will definitely stay at this location again. Walking distance to the French Quarter. Also, blocks from the Amtrak station. Also, within walking distance to food eateries. Plenty of outlets, storage, and lighting. They offer bread with different room packages. The bar has cheap happy hour prices. As stated on the website...the balcony is not accessible.
lsteahly 5 months agoGreat location between the French Quarter and the Garden District and within walking distance of the WWII museum. Two Chicks Cafe is very close by for a great breakfast. The rooms were perfectly fine (except for the sliding door for the bathroom; not as much privacy). Rooms start on the 8th floor, which also has a ballroom. Others complained of noise, but all was quiet during the our weekend stay. You cannot access the room balcony; the door is screwed shut, but that didn’t bother us. What is annoying is the $11 nightly amenity fee. Just bogus. I didn’t ask for it to be waived, but maybe I should have. Still, the hotel was a good value in a good location and I never felt unsafe in the hotel or in the neighborhood.
Rich Dunn 2 months agoI felt compelled to write a review as this hotel is unusual. The rooms are pretty nice. I started out with a not-so-great room as my a/c smelled musty and never got cold. I called the second day and was given another room that was really nice, clean and good smelling. The staff seemed to be helpful and accommodating so no complaints there. The location is close to my seminar and within walking distance to French quarter and accessible. My complaint is the extra costs. Breakfast at the hotel was about $30 for okay food. anything extra was outrageously priced. They had no vending machine only a coffee bar where the only water was $6. I was instructed to refill my water bottle on 8th floor at the gym. with no close convenience stores, your only choice is for this coffee bar. Parking is $45 per day also, which is kind of ridiculous because it was nearly empty the whole time. If there were different deals that I did not get, i say this, just make it more reasonable. I would not recommend if you are on a budget.
Yekta E 6 months agoCheck-in was smooth and the room was fine. Everything we needed was provided except bottled water, which was available downstairs. Since we only stayed one night and were out most of the time, this wasn’t a major issue. Unfortunately, our dining experience significantly impacted our stay. We were a family of six hoping to sit together, but we were split into two tables (2 and 4). We didn’t push back and tried to move forward. However, from the beginning, our server (with pinks in her hair) had an unwelcoming attitude. When my sister in law ordered salmon, the server reacted rudely to her pronunciation, which immediately made us uncomfortable. The food took a while to arrive—which we understood—but when it did, none of us enjoyed it. Since the food was already served and the server’s demeanor made us uncomfortable, we didn’t feel at ease asking for replacements or refunds. When we later gave honest feedback at checkout, the same server became defensive, repeatedly mentioning that there were cameras and implying that because we ate the food, our feedback wasn’t valid. Her reaction were defensive, offensive, felt unnecessary and confrontational. Defensive, offensive We were simply trying to share feedback, not cause trouble. They add a 30% tip automatically to a a group of 6+. Even though we were seated separately. I don’t think that big of a tip was necessary, especially for such a rude server! The situation escalated to the point where security was called, which left our entire family feeling humiliated and shaken—especially since we had a young child with us. Not to mention my mother in law had visited from abroad and we wanted to make it special for her! The following morning, my sister-in-law’s family went for breakfast (which was prepaid with their stay) and were again met with rude behavior by another server over a misunderstanding about breakfast tickets. This added to the overall negative experience. At checkout, we calmly shared our concerns with the front desk, with no ill intentions—just hoping to explain what happened. Sadly, the repeated lack of courtesy from the restaurant staff overshadowed what could have been a pleasant stay. Overall, while the hotel itself was fine, the restaurant service greatly impacted our stay. In a city that welcomes so many visitors from around the world, we hoped for a more patient and hospitable experience.
