Zac Goldstein a month agoWe looked into a few downtown hotels before settling on the Hilton. The location, price point (not hideously expensive), and trust in the Hilton brand steered us here. Fortunately, it proved to be the right decision. Situated right near the former Convention Center, the Hilton is proximate to restaurants, coffee shops, bars, clubs, museums, and more. The building’s height also makes it easy to find if you’re wandering around downtown. Inside, the Hilton is spacious, well-staffed, and well-maintained. All of the staff we interacted with were courteous, and the front desk was even kind enough to send us some prosecco and cake for our anniversary, a thoughtful personal touch. Our room proved to be clean, comfortable, and quiet. It was advertised as a “city view” room, and it delivered. Had we relied on the hotel’s restaurants or needed its (hideously expensive) valet parking, we might have had more room for complaint, but for our purposes, the Hilton was a fine pick.
Victoria Schmidt 4 months agoI stayed at this hotel last month during the Austin Marathon weekend, when the property was bringing in travelers from all over the country. Unfortunately, within minutes of arriving, I experienced something I have never encountered in my many years of traveling at any Hilton property or hotel brand. While I was standing in the lobby area near the front desk, a man who was already sitting comfortably in the lobby chairs began aggressively speaking abusive language at me. This individual was not a hotel guest. He directed extremely hostile remarks toward me, including telling me to “go kill myself” along with other explicit insults. It was shocking and incredibly unsettling to experience something like this immediately upon arrival in a hotel lobby. I quickly informed the front desk staff about what was happening. By the time they attempted to address the situation, the man had taken some of my bags and sprinted out the door. Despite the hotel claiming to have security, there was not a single security guard present in the lobby during the entire incident. For a hotel hosting families, runners, and travelers visiting for a major event weekend, the lack of visible security and immediate response in a situation like this is deeply concerning and unacceptable. The hotel did comp one night of my stay and provided food vouchers, which I appreciate. However, compensation does not change the fact that my sense of safety was compromised within minutes of arriving. Hotels are supposed to provide comfort and security for their guests. In this case, both were threatened immediately. While the rooms themselves are nice, guests should also be aware that the property can be quite loud, with music and noise carrying through the building. Additionally, the elevators were extremely slow causing long lines and wait times of 5-10 minutes. I sincerely hope Hilton reviews the security procedures at this property so no other guest has to experience something like this.
Miten Desai 4 months agoI’ve stayed at the Hilton Austin seven or eight times over the past couple of years, and it’s always my go-to whenever I’m here. I love the vibes every time I walk into check in, it instantly feels luxurious and so lively with others and it sets the tone for a great stay. The rooms are nice and well-kept and having a Starbucks inside is a huge plus in the mornings. The bar is nice as well. The location is perfect for me, close to everything I like to do in Austin which is also why I love staying here.
oshilla B. 2 months agoThe rooms need updating for the price they charge for a nights stay but other than that it's ok. The elevators are kinda slow but the staff is friendly and helpful. The location is very good as it is walkable to everything. Also, get rid of the tubs. A walk in shower is much more appreciated.
Cloud Surfer 2 months agoNice rooms and a good view. It’s a decent hotel but what others have said about the elevators is real. I stay at 100 hotels a year and I’ve never seen anything like this. Prepare for a 15-20 minute journey to get from the lobby to your room. The elevator situation is absolutely unacceptable. I’d recommend staying elsewhere until they fix the elevators.
