Citronnelle PA a month agoI have stayed in literally hundreds of 4 and 5-star accommodations across 6 continents over the last 4 decades. This beautiful little boutique hotel was one of my favorites, definitely one of my top 20. The reasons for this are easy to come by. First, the staff was incredibly welcoming and informative upon our arrival, second, the room was tastefully artistic without being over the top, a good size, spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable king sized bed (perhaps the most important feature. The fridge, Nespresso machine and complimentary waters are always a welcome touch. The windows were almost floor to ceiling, with double shades (one blackout) for a good night’s sleep. I loved the ultra quiet and efficient temperature control in the room as well. Even the hallways smelled nice and fresh (but not overpowering). The gym was small but very clean and well equipped for an excellent workout, and the small pool even had cozy cabanas. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious and the service was very personable and efficient. The location was also perfect, about a block away from the lively Gaslamp district and tons of public nearby transportation, including the trolley just around the corner. You can choose to have valet parking, or self park with a garage right across the street. They had just about every amenity (except for maybe a spa), are dog/cat-friendly, and a friendly, welcoming energy that we loved. We would definitely stay here again when we come back to San Diego!
Kush Kush 3 weeks agoLove This Spot!! Location Great for foodies ... For the most part everyone is friendly, I guess we all human and we have our days sometimes rite? Rite! Lol Moving forward, Great Hotel, Plenty of Bus parking/ Larger Vehicles just up the block maybe 2-3 blocks then hang a left to Large Parking lot in front of Apartments and Houses, so be respectful... Rooms are Spacious and Clean and Was Surprised a bit by the young rowdy crowd Hse of Blues attracted 1 evening, but Thankfully The Good Energy over powered the negative... Good Times
Tessa L 6 months agoOur first staff member was super friendly / but unfortunately, our stay went downhill quickly. The first room we were given had a large wet spot on the carpet right next to the bed, which we discovered with our bare feet (ew). We went to the front desk to request a new room. The (different) staff member was not apologetic and instead asked, “Well, did you sit on the bed already?”—which felt irrelevant given the soaking wet floor. She did give us another room, but then this 2nd room smelled strongly of cigarettes. We went back downstairs again. Still no apology, and it felt like we were inconveniencing her. She did give us a 3rd room though, and it was much better. I know hotel rooms are not going to be perfect and I understand that- but these issues were hard to ignore 😭 We had booked this hotel specifically for the heated pool, only to find it barely warm at best - so we didn’t even get to use it. After checkout, we were also hit with an unexpected extra charge on our card, which no one explained to us at the front desk. And to top it off, I am now being spam emailed daily by this hotel with “check-in instructions,” sometimes in different languages, even though our stay is long over. this place may look nice from the outside—but beware - inside it may be wet and smelly and you may get an extra charge.
Terri Pham 4 months agoTHEFT AND UNSAFE LOCATION DOWNTOWN First off, some plus sides: - Good rating restaurant on the first floor - Easy check-in for me at 10pm - As a part of Marriot selections, this hotel is trying its best. Now the down sides are: - Lots of homeless people at the door, which makes me feel unsafe as a girl. - Park across the hotel overnight for half price off compared to the hotel valet parking. - Moreover, we ended up losing 700usd cash after coming back from Seaworld. The pocket inside my backpack was hanging out, showing the remaining $300, as it was initially $1000 in there. Either I was careless or the staff training needs to be taken more seriously. This was end of 2025 but I feel the need to speak up now, as other guests should be careful of their valuable belongings.
Kevin Persaud 2 months agoMy Fiancée and I had a great short stay here. I felt well taken care of and no issues. A few days prior to arrival I received an email that my room was upgraded to a balcony room and requested that I let them know if I needed anything prior to arrival. I appreciate the communication. We arrived a bit late in the day to check in. The front entrance was locked but when we got out of the taxi the valet who was nearby immediately unlocked it for us. I later realized this was due to the homeless/junkie population in the area. I felt that the hotel staff did a great job in regards to safety. I believe Jorge was the one who had checked me in. He went through all of the benefits I would receive by booking with my American Express and the amenities of the hotel. The room was great. The balcony was connected to the adjoining room, so when I went outside to check it out, I was able to see directly into the other room. The next day the occupants of that room closed their blinds to prevent that from happening again. I wish there was a more permanent partition between the two balconies that would prevent someone from walking to the other side. The room was quiet. I only heard noise from the neighboring rooms when out in the hallway. The room was well cleaned. One minor hiccup was when housekeeping removed our towels, they forgot to replace them. Thankfully we had the extra under the sink. I'm not sure if that was intentional since we had those towels, but then next day all 4 were replaced. We went to the cafe downstairs every morning for breakfast. They had a special latte menu as well as the food menu. The food came fast and was delicious. I would definitely stay here when I'm in San Diego again.
