Amber Scentsy a month agoWe stayed here over the weekend. The lady at check in was kind of rude. We cracked a joke about not getting a room near the pool since we were placed in the building farthest from the main lobby. She immediately told us that there was a wedding and that the rooms are always fully booked. And we were checking it at 1130 instead of the normal check in time and we should be happy that she was able to put us in a room. The room was small and the beds are definitely not queen size beds. We got a balcony room that had 2 small chairs and a small table. There are very few chargers in these rooms. They placed the mini fridge in the nightstand which makes its overly large. The bathroom is extremely tight. You barely miss the toilet with the door. Also there are no elevators in the buildings. So I hope you like stairs. You will pay 24 dollars a night for parking on property. My mother in law went to get a cup of coffee and they charged her 5 dollars for a small cup of coffee. Which is outrageous for a small cup of plain black coffee! Now the to the beds...... they are so freaking hard. I woke up multiple times a night with pain in my hip and shoulders. We had no interaction with any other staff due to not wanting to deal with them. The TV remote was so old and worked half the time. We will not be staying here again and probably wont recommend it to anyone either.
emily g 2 months agoI had an absolutely incredible stay at this hotel everything about it exceeded my expectations from start to finish. And even had to extend the stay ,The property itself is beautiful, well maintained. My room was spotless, comfortable. What truly made the experience stand out, though, was the exceptional service. Jesus at the front was professional, and genuinely welcoming. A special shoutout to him, he went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. His kindness, attentiveness, and positive attitude made such a difference, and it’s clear he truly cares about guests having a great experience. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. This hotel sets the standard for hospitality, and I will absolutely be coming back. Highly, highly recommend!
Jane Silva 4 months ago⭐⭐⭐ We had a very nice stay at the Handlery Hotel overall. The property was comfortable and we enjoyed our visit. We have also attended jazz concerts at the hotel and genuinely appreciate their commitment to supporting live jazz. That kind of community and arts support really matters to us and is one of the reasons we enjoy visiting the property. Unfortunately, after checkout we realized we had left a personal item behind, a Musicozy sleep headphone headband. We contacted the hotel right away and initially worked with lost and found and housekeeping. Over the course of a week, we called at least four times and were told someone would follow up with us. No one ever did. On our final call, I asked if someone in management could contact us and was told that would happen, but it did not. We completely understand that lost items are not always recoverable. Our disappointment was simply the lack of follow-through and communication after multiple attempts to reach out. We truly hope the hotel continues supporting live music and guest experiences. With improved follow-up and communication, this would easily remain a place we would enjoy returning to.
Raffi Alexanian 6 months agoI stayed at the Handlery Hotel San Diego and there were a few positives, but unfortunately my experience overall wasn’t great. On the plus side, the price is very reasonable, and the hotel has some useful amenities. There’s a small gym with two treadmills, a couple of other cardio machines, some free weights, and a small bench. The swimming pool is a decent size and there’s also a small jacuzzi, which is nice. What really ruined the stay, though, was what happened during the night. It rained heavily, and even though the balcony door was closed, I woke up in the morning to find the carpet by the balcony completely soaked. The water had clearly leaked in from outside. I went to reception, and the only solution they offered was to move me to another room , but since I only had a few hours left before leaving, it didn’t make sense to pack everything up and move. This kind of issue makes you worry about maintenance and building condition. With better handling from the hotel and more proactive solutions, the stay could have been much better, but as it stands, it was a disappointing experience.
Kaiya MacLeod 4 months agoPrice was ok for San Diego. Parking was an additional $25 a night which was insane, they should just include this price in the nightly rate so you’re not surprised, it adds up after a week! And there was no close, free parking nearby. Front desk staff were a bit of a gamble with a couple of them being friendly, some not caring at all, and others just being rude and short with guests. The breakfast place was alright, although overpriced, but the staff didn’t seem to pay any mind when I pointed out the ants crawling up the wall, she just said “oh, yeah, ants… again”. Didn’t offer to move us or apologize. One of the days my boyfriend and I were out and left our personal towels in the bathroom. I didn’t think this would be an issue because our towels are blue and the hotel towels are white. When we came back in the evening our personal towels were gone and our room had been cleaned. I thought it was odd but was thinking maybe they were just cleaning our own towels? I told the front desk and they said they alerted the house cleaning staff but I got no follow up. At checkout several days later, I brought it up and the man just said “oh yeah, that’s gonna take a while for them to find the towels”. So we provided our contact info hoping to get them back. Never contacted. I called back a couple times a few months later but kept getting transferred with no resolution. I finally got a manager on another call and he said the staff wouldn’t have taken towels except for the hotel ones. I said I understood and that’s why I was confused why they took them. In the end, I could have been compensated but he said I would need the original receipt from when we purchased the towels and I obviously didn’t just have those on hand anymore as they are years old. Still don’t know where our towels ended up. Disappointed.
