Very good centrally located hotel in Downtown San Diego It's value for money too Very good breakfast spread Very courteous staff. Guests are made comfortable here. In fact we were also given a late check out on request with no extra cost as my flight was in the evening and we wanted to rest before a long international flight back home

One of the Best Breakfasts on the West Coast I only stayed overnight and headed straight to the buffet breakfast early the next morning. It was truly one of the best buffet experiences I’ve had on the West Coast. While I unfortunately didn't capture any photos, everything from the freshly brewed coffee and yogurts to the pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausages was perfect. Ideally located in the heart of downtown, this hotel and its breakfast are hard to beat! Plus! Bottled waters are free & rooms are clean.

Very disappointing stay and far below expectations. The photos online were misleading and did not reflect the actual condition of the hotel. The first room was not what I booked, smelled heavily of pets, and had stained carpet. Getting a room change was difficult because the hotel was sold out. The second room smelled strongly of smoke, had a dirty bathroom, stained floors, and even food left behind. The third room was no better and again smelled heavily of pets. The smoke smell made it hard to sleep and breathe, and the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel were unacceptable. To make matters worse, I was awakened by construction inside the hotel that was never disclosed during booking. The pool was also unavailable due to construction, which was disappointing since amenities like this influenced my decision to stay here. The breakfast was okay, but it did not make up for the poor conditions and lack of communication. Overall, this was a frustrating and unpleasant experience, and I would not stay here again.

Great hotel in downtown San Diego. The location is excellent, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Everything was well maintained, and the stay was very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again.

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was well stocked, fresh, and had good flavor. Nice to have two pancake machines too since they empty quickly. Both of these aspects were well above average compared to other Holiday Inn Expresses I've visited. Room was in acceptable condition other than the linens. Several issues though: the sheets had several pieces of hair and several stains in them. One towel had hair in it. The mattress was quite stained with something brown, visible through the sheets. Water pressure was a bit low. At one point the ceiling began vibrating loudly - pressing on it would temporarily stop it. We were on the top floor so it wasn't from another guest, I don't think. Finally, the worst part by far was the sound insulation with the adjoining room that shared a connecting door. I could make out entire conversations - a privacy issue. Luckily the people in the other room went to bed around the same time and woke up after us, otherwise it would have interfered with my sleep. I don't even think they were especially loud, the insulation was just that bad.
