The location of The DEXTRO is excellent from a tourist’s perspective. Not only are you right in Little Italy, but the hotel is also surprisingly walkable to both the Gaslamp Quarter and the Embarcadero. The reception desk also provided us with a very convenient pamphlet summarizing nearby attractions, events for the week, and booking tips, which genuinely helped us make the most of our trip. You can expect a solid and comfortable 3-star hotel experience here. What really stood out to us, however, was the warmth and helpfulness of the staff. We had wonderful interactions throughout our stay, including with the bartender (whose name I unfortunately forgot), housekeeper Emily, the various front desk attendants, and especially Robin, the Senior Worldwide Sales Manager, whose efforts and hospitality were greatly appreciated. It really felt like extra care had been taken to make our stay enjoyable. We also had a lovely welcome when we entered the room, including a thoughtful goodie bag with snacks, which was a very nice touch after traveling. The gym could perhaps use a bit more maintenance, but overall we had a genuinely excellent stay and would absolutely recommend The DEXTRO to anyone planning to explore San Diego.

We had a nice stay at the Dextro. The rooms were clean and staff was friendly and helpful. We had called ahead for a crib and on arrival they brought it right up we got in later at night with our baby. We booked through my wife’s credit card portal I think and we had breakfast included. Which was nice for a quick bite it is just normal hotel breakfast so definitely wouldn’t pay for it if it wasn’t included in our rate. I did have to work for half a day from the breakfast area and the two ladies staffing it were awesome bringing drinks and helping everyone out as they came down. Rooms are kinda awkward shaped and sized due to the shape of the hotel. No microwave in the room is whatever but they had none on the premise for use is a big miss for me. My wife enjoyed the pool one day but said it was a bit chilly. The best part about the hotel was the location. We were able to walk to it from the zoo and you’re right by little Italy and walked down to the seaport area. Price was right as well. Would stay again if the rate is good because of location more than anything.

The hotel in general wasn't bad, the staff was friendly, quick check in and out was easy and fast. Room was cozy. Bed was comfortable. Just a few blocks from Little Italy. I only have 2 complaints 1.) One out of the two elevators were working so the wait for the elevator was ridiculously long and people were packed in there like sardines. 2.) Thought the restaurant menu would have been larger, but there were only a few items to choose from. Overall, I'd definitely book again here.

We stayed at The Dextro for one night before heading back to Los Angeles, as we were looking for a place near the zoo—and it turned out to be a great choice. The experience was excellent overall. The staff was amazing, and a huge shoutout to Rudy at the front desk, who sorted out an issue we had with our reservation. He really went above and beyond to help us, which made a big difference. The rooms were spacious and very clean, making the stay even more comfortable. We’d definitely come back next time we’re in San Diego.

I’m surprised by the low reviews. I stayed here and it was pleasant albeit accommodating, which isn’t surprising since it’s a best western affiliate hotel. Check-in was easy. They even allowed my group to check-in extremely early (about 5-6 hours) free of charge. That alone set a great vibe for the trip. The linens were extremely comfortable and the room had plenty of hangers/space for 3 women. The rooms are a weird shape but it works. Our main complaints were - no fan in bathroom - phone in room wasn’t connected (no chord, funny but annoying) - no microwaves (being so close to little Italy? Very unusual) - maid service didn’t service our room one day (the front desk was very accommodating since maids left for the day.) It was annoying but didn’t ruin the trip. We didn’t try to breakfast or bar since there were so many local option for food. The sunset was very nice and weather beautiful. I like how you could only enter your floor by scanning your key card in the elevator. Added a sense of safety. Would stay here again or even do a solo trip. P.S. the green chairs in the lobby are sooo comfy. Very luxe looking!
