Frederick Yan 3 weeks agoGood hotel and friendly staff. You get unlimited retrieve of your valet parking (59 before tax) and 3-3pm every 24 hour rate. The room is clean and good restaurant. Extra: I love the wood room card! It’s kind of special and lovely
Jason Gomberg a month agoThe stay itself at Sofitel was excellent in so many ways. The hotel is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and clearly well maintained. The level of service throughout the property was genuinely outstanding and deserves recognition. Every interaction felt warm and professional, but the doormen in particular were absolutely phenomenal — friendly, attentive, welcoming, and consistently going above and beyond. They set the tone every time we came and went and truly elevated the overall experience. That’s what makes the food situation so shocking. For a hotel delivering such a polished, upscale experience, the food options should honestly be an embarrassment. The breakfast experience was so disappointing that despite breakfast being included with our stay, we completely skipped it on our second morning and paid out of pocket to eat elsewhere. The operation felt disorganized, the quality didn’t match expectations, and it simply fell far below the standard set by the rest of the property. Around 9 p.m. one evening we decided to order the macaroni au gratin from the dinner restaurant, and what arrived was one of the saddest and most unappetizing pasta dishes we’ve ever been served. We each took maybe two bites before deciding it wasn’t worth continuing and walked off property to find something else. It’s genuinely frustrating because this hotel gets so much right. The cleanliness, atmosphere, and service are exactly what you would hope for from a luxury stay, and the staff made a lasting impression for all the right reasons. But food is part of the guest experience too, and when the dining options are poor enough that guests willingly pay extra to avoid them, that becomes a major issue. As much as we loved the hotel and the people working there, the dining experience alone would make us seriously consider staying elsewhere next time.
Egirl Kalamanani 3 weeks agoFor how much we spent, it was not worth it. Hospitality starts at the front door with valet and they were less than stellar coming in and leaving. Front desk staff was insanely slow and attitudes were not helpful. My question was answered by a guest when the host didn't offer a solution. I wasn't the only one that noticed the attitudes by all three staffers. Room was well appointed but very small. I work in hospitality and so I have high expectations of the staff especially for high end venues. Bar/restaurant was small and busy so we ate at a nearby fabulous deli.
R. Jones 4 months agoThe Sofitel Philadelphia's location is perfect for venturing out to restaurants and events. The main level is laid out nicely, the rooms are spacious, and the beds are comfortable. However, the person who checked us in was very curt. On the opposite side, the person who checked us out was extremely nice. The hallways need to be vacuumed more often, our room didn't have a mini-fridge or a microwave, and the hotel doesn't have a mini-mart of sorts or a convenience area if you want a soda/beverage or chips/candy or something quick like that. Also, overnight parking is at least almost $75 (one you add the 22% parking tax). We ordered room service because we were in a hurry to eat before we left and were charged $47 for an omelet with toast and home fries and a small pot of coffee. In addition, though the bathroom as roomy, there was a covered vent in the ceiling that hadn't been cleaned in ages - there were many clusters of dust bunnies stuck to and hanging from it. Lastly, there is only valet parking unless you want to find a parking garage nearby and you have to request your car at least 30 mins before you need it because it takes that long for the valets to go get it and bring it back. The valets were all super nice, but having to wait so long wasn't convenient at all. Overall, we enjoyed our stay because of the location and we felt safe in the hotel, but next time I will probably pick a different place to stay.
Wynter Clarke 7 months agoMy boyfriend and I stayed at the Sofitel Philadelphia in a one-bedroom suite, and we had a wonderful experience. The extra space made our stay feel especially comfortable, and I loved that the room came with robes and slippers. The bathroom was also spacious, which was a nice bonus. While the bed didn’t include a top sheet initially, the staff quickly brought one up as soon as I requested it. We were also lucky to be on the top floor, which gave us a beautiful view of the city. One of my favorite perks was the daily $22 resort credit that we could use at the bar. The bar itself had a great happy hour with fair prices, and the Thursday night DJ was such a fun touch—we didn’t even feel the need to go out our first night. The location is perfect. We were able to walk to most places, and many of the restaurants we visited, including Butcher and Singer, were only about a 10-minute walk away. We only used rideshares for trips that were over 15 minutes. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Overall, we had a fantastic stay, and I truly can’t wait to go back!
