I read reviews before staying places as I travel for work. Im in 1-5 hotels a week. This place isn't terrible. Clean rooms, linens, not too old. Only problem is the owner only turns on the AC in the lobby. Staying on the top floor its more humid and hotter than outside in the hallway when I woke up. About the same as outside when I checked in at 94 degrees outside. My room set to 77 while unoccupied felt much nicer. Cranked the AC in the room and it works well. I dont require much when I stay somewhere and dont complain in general. The front desk has been very kind and assured me maintenance will knkw that the AC that "is on" is not working. The hot water is nice but water pressure is low. Reason for the one star is I left a do not disturb on my door as I always do since I dont need to be pampered. Came back early afternoon to the sign removed, tissues and phone charger thrown on my unmade bed, and the kitchen floor with a slick spot that almost tripped me. Glad Im not elderly. I dont leave a mess when I check out and always put things in a single trash can to help. This is just strange to me. Ill be leaving my possessions in my car for safe keeping after today. Edit: there was a mandatory carpet cleaning and somewhere at the front desk was a sign stating even do not disturb rooms would be hit. Explains the mess on the bed and my socks getting soaked when I changed into shorts to besr the hallway heat. Love Home2, holton, just think this place wpuld bebest winter only. Must be trying to save a buck by pretending there's no issue with the AC flat out off and humidity filling everything but the lobby.

The rooms were clean, but they felt a bit outdated. Unfortunately, the shower didn’t work properly and it was difficult to get consistent warm water, which was frustrating. The walls also seemed poorly soundproofed—we could hear adult activity from neighboring rooms, which made us concerned that our kids might hear things they shouldn’t. Breakfast options were quite limited and repetitive, so don’t expect much variety there. That said, the overall atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful, and the staff were friendly and welcoming, which helped make the stay pleasant despite the drawbacks.

Nice and helpful staff. Decent amenities. Guest laundry is reasonably priced. Nice selection for breakfast. Rooms stocked well and clean. Easily slept our family of 5 in a queen suite, with space to spare. Close to stores to get things forgotten at home. Would definitely stay here again.

It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great. When I first walked into the room, the room smelled really bad like someone threw up or something. Also, the door kept getting stuck and it wouldn’t close properly unless you pulled it shut, and everytime the door closed, it made a really loud noise like the door didn’t fit properly. I also found a lot of hair in the bed sheets underneath the blanket and made me wonder if they even changed the sheets… Also, there was a lot of trash underneath the bed behind the headboard (I found a used condom wrapper) and also under the couch and it looked like they didn’t do a great job of vacuuming or cleaning between the crevices. The only reason I found out about the trash is because I have a crawling baby and he likes to pick up things and put everything into his mouth. I honestly wouldn’t know what I would’ve done if he picked up the condom wrapper (yikes!). I complained the first day i arrived about the smell and the door kept getting stuck and the front desk lady said there was an event and there was no available rooms to switch and to call back tomorrow morning. When I asked the lady if she could reserve the first available room for me next day but she said she couldn’t and that I would have to check back tomorrow… she was trying her best to accommodate me but honestly I was sooo exhausted from moving all the stuff with a baby that I didn’t even want to bother trying to lug everything and moving into another room. The front desk people seemed friendly but they didn’t offer much help (they could’ve offered to help push my cart up to the room or just offering any help would’ve been nice). Also, the day of check out around 8am nobody was at the front desk and my app wouldn’t allow me to check out on the phone, so I just dropped off the keys and called back later closer to check out time. I had to call numerous times for someone to answer the phone and when I finally got a hold of a gentleman, I double checked with the guy to make sure I was checked out and he rudely said you are checked out and hung up… I don’t know if this place is really short staffed or what, but I guess that explains such a low rating on Google.

There were several cleaning issues in the room as well as the blackout shade curtain pull not functional. I mentioned this to the front desk staff in a kind an informative way and the only concession was some extra HH points. I asked for some sort of discount on the room due to the inconveniences and they said they could not do that, which is totally bogus because they absolutely have the ability to approve that. I don’t like paying for a room and not getting the full value that I pay for. This is also sad because I used to be a big Hilton fan, but I am finding that I get a much more consistent experience with Marriott.
