Jeremy Cote a month agoStayed here for two night solo on a country motorcycle wander. Great value for the money. Room was spacious and very clean. Comfy beds, pillows and blankets. Good towels. WiFi was a little slow at the end where I was, but my AT&T 5G was zinging. All of the staff I spoke to were very friendly and helpful, especially the gals at the front desk. I like that it is a hotel and everything is inside once you’re in. Nice indoor pool. Restaurant and a small store. I used their laundry machines and they were spotless clean…I am super about washing clothes. I found a nice place to park my bike out of the wind and sight. Walmart and Whole Foods are easily walkable. 10+ GOOD restaurants in the very close area. This was my second time here and I’d stay here again.
Christian Didgeridoo 3 weeks agoI rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was one of the worst I've had while traveling. From the moment we entered the room, there was a strong and unpleasant odor that resembled stale cigarette smoke mixed with sewage or body odor. The plumbing throughout the room was in poor condition, with fixtures draining slowly or not draining properly at all. The bathroom appeared poorly maintained, with missing or deteriorated caulking around fixtures, raising concerns about water damage and possible mold growth behind surfaces. To make matters worse, portions of the ceiling showed visible signs of deterioration and appeared to be sagging or beginning to fail. The food was equally disappointing and was among the worst hotel food I have ever been served. Between the condition of the room, the maintenance issues, and the dining experience, it became clear that this property was not meeting even basic expectations for cleanliness and upkeep. We brought these concerns to management immediately and requested a refund. Rather than addressing the issues professionally, we were effectively treated as though we were being dishonest about our experience. That response was especially frustrating because we raised our concerns right away and ultimately felt compelled to leave after only one night. We relocated to another hotel less than a mile away for a lower price and had a dramatically better experience. The difference in cleanliness, maintenance, food quality, amenities, and overall guest service was night and day. That stay only reinforced how unacceptable our experience at this property had been.
Jessica Larson 2 weeks agoDO NOTTTTT STAY HERE!!!!!!! It is in your best interest to find somewhere else immediately and here's our why! Arrived an hour after check-in time and got a room on the 1st floor. It was absolutely disgusting! Holes in the blinds, wallpaper falling off the wall, nasty uncleaned carpet and smelled like someone died in there. We requested to move and got a room on the 3rd floor. We open the door to an OCCUPIED room!!!!! I'd be pissed if they gave a room to someone else that I was already staying in, who's to say they wouldn't rummage through my stuff! Then, got a room next door....the door didn't work! The 4th and final room (an hour later) was good enough so we stayed. Now, our issues with this room. The tub did not drain (it was disgusting!), garbage in crevasses (someone's used q-tips!!!!) and worse of all, SOMEONES UNDERWEAR UNDER THE CHAIR!!!!!!! I about threw up! On our 3rd day, we requested maid service and put the sign on our door that said "maid service please". The maids came to the 3rd floor and turned it around to Do Not Disturb. We tried again....they flipped it again. Once more, they flipped it again! I told the front desk how unhappy we were constantly and they kept saying, "we are so sorry, I can give you a free drink pass". 🤦 Then, to top it all off, I got in trouble by the breakfast staff because I let them know (very nicely by the way) that the waffle mix machine wasn't working. I have NEVER in my life had such a horrible experience at a hotel and I suggest you look elsewhere when staying in Colorado Springs.
Andrew Byrd a month agoMy wife and family have stayed at the Academy many times over the past 10 years. That made it an obvious choice for our wedding hotel. Unfortunately we left with a slight distaste for this establishment. I will list our issues in order of severity. 1. After our first night, all the hotel's room doors were left unlocked and completely open for anyone to enter. This is a major security issue, and unacceptable that it lasted multiple days, and was not resolved by our checkout date. 2. The included breakfast is a false promise. We arrived 30 minutes before breakfast ended, and the only food left was 4 sausages, a small serving of gravy, and assorted cold pastries. We were left hungry and destitute. 3. There is very obviously an understaffing issue. Although the front desk staff was lovely and helpful, they were overwhelmed and could not help at the level expected. The cleaning crew on the other hand, were rude and loud in a profane way. Often swearing openly, in front of patrons. 4. The room was generally clean, but the bathroom and entrance smelled of seafood, in an unpleasant way. As well as being fairly outdated for a supposed 4 star hotel. 5. The lobby was messy and full of random garbage strewn about. 6. 2 weeks after checkout, I am still awaiting the security deposit refund, totalling $100. The only conclusion I can come to from this experience, is that the Academy hotel is no longer a viable option for those looking for a moderately high end hotel. I would not recommend staying here in any situation.
Keira Marques a month agoExtremely disappointing :( *I do want to shoutout Jaryd and Chelsea for their professionalism and care throughout all our stays* We’ve been staying here for years and have loved our experiences, but we had two stays booked recently and they were the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. During the first stay, the AC unit in our room was quite literally falling apart, had a filter that was filthy and didn’t fit the unit, and was not working properly. When we called the front desk, the woman told us someone would be up in 10 minutes… an hour went by and no one had come. We called again, another “10 minutes,” after 20 we went down to the desk and received the same dismissive treatment in person. Just gave up and went to bed but it was at least 80° in the room. Super stuffy and smelly. Throughout the stay, we noticed the hotel was far dirtier than usual and several amenities had been cut. Upon check out, the elevator broke and we had to carry all our bags down 4 flights of stairs. Cleaning and maintenance staff were the only ones offering any help. When we checked back in a few days later, the elevator was STILL not working, and all the doors to every single room were unlocked. Not even the deadbolt would work. We were NOT notified of this when we checked in, and someone walked into our room thinking it was empty to try and take things… huge security concern and the hotel staff did not seem phased by this at all. When we brought it to their attention they said they had been aware for over 24 hours and were “working on it,” but were not letting ANY guests know. Super messed up. The staff were not helpful and very rude during the whole situation, we ended up leaving after 4 hours there. Again, super duper disappointed, because we have always loved our stay there. It’s clear the new management is driving this place into the ground.
