Stayed 2 nights at this location of Residence Inn and it was a very pleasant experience. Small snaffoo the first morning when we woke in to realize the fridge didn’t work and all our fruit and snacks had gone bad. They sent someone out immediately to fix the fridge. There was also a homeless person who somehow made it past the front door (which had working locks so I assume he slipped by with another guest). He approached us at breakfast and asked for money. I immediately alerted the staff and police were promptly called and the situation was handled quickly and discreetly. Breakfast was BOMB! Made to order omelets, fruit, oatmeal & a variety of toppings, cold cereals, a variety of breads & pastries, sausage, waffles, breakfast potatoes, juices & coffee. The fireplace in the breakfast room was a wonderful touch. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and the happy hour with free margaritas was a plus! Great location right off the”Main Street Square” with easy on and off access to the rail.

I stayed at the Residence Inn Downtown/Convention Center location, and I had a wonderful experience. The front desk staff were very professional, welcoming, and friendly. I arrived much earlier than the regular check-in time, but they kindly allowed me to check in early at no extra charge, which I really appreciated. My room was incredibly spacious and well-equipped. It had a full kitchen with a regular-sized fridge and stove, a dining table, a comfortable couch, a TV, a large bed, and both a shower and a powder room. It truly felt like a home away from home. The hotel also has a gym and an outdoor swimming pool, and I really enjoyed using both. What impressed me the most was that breakfast was included—and it was amazing! There were so many options, including eggs, bacon (sausage the next day), bread, muffins, scones (pancakes the next day), oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, oranges, coffee, and more. The location is also perfect—very convenient for taking the streetcar or bus, and many places are within walking distance. On my last day, the staff even offered me a complimentary late check-out, so I stayed until 1 PM. That was incredibly helpful because my bus to Louisiana was at 1:45 PM, and I was able to relax before my long trip. I highly recommend this hotel, and I would definitely love to stay here again if I have the chance to visit Houston in the future.

In today's age of double queens, it was surprising to see a single queen bed. Made the room feel very spacey. Room had a kitchenette and 2 small tables/desks. Had a GFI circuit blow, switch kept resetting. Called the front desk, they had it fixed within the hour. I was happy with that. Surprisingly, Houston downtown is bad for cigars. The Marriott's smoking area was better than most hotels by far, covered area, padded lawn chairs. It was in the front, not the back. At times headlights could be a nuisance, but other than that, great spot to have a Stogie, in a pinch.

Great hotel - large rooms, great reception desk manned by friendly, professional staff. Breakfast was well made & plated to perfection. Kudos to the serving staff. Lobby is inviting and doubles for the restaurant sitting area, a smart use of space.
